Cars · Insurance & protection

Know what covers the car before you take the keys.

A personal policy may not match what a particular car requires. Here’s how we check your starting point, and the options you can add.

Two starting points

If you have

Existing US insurance

  1. 01Comprehensive
  2. 02Collision
  3. 03Liability
  4. 04Eligibility for this vehicle

We verify each before you drive.

If you are

International, or without a usable policy

We confirm a suitable arrangement with you before you drive, matched to your car and rental.

Arrangement confirmed first

Mileage & where you can drive

100 miles included per rental day.

Included mileage covers every rental day, including a promotional free day.

Prior approval is required to take the vehicle outside Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach County.

The three counties form one permitted travel area; travel between them does not require approval. These rules apply to all rental cars, for members and nonmembers alike.

Planning to travel farther? Ask us before you drive. An inquiry requests approval; it is not approval. Additional-mile charges and the approval process must be confirmed separately.

Mileage and travel permission are rental rules, not a promise of insurance coverage. Protection remains subject to its applicable terms.

Why limits matter

A policy limit can sit well below the value of an exotic car. Knowing the difference helps you decide whether an additional option is worth discussing.

Waivers complement your primary insurance; they don’t replace it.

Hypothetical illustration

Hypothetical example: $200,000 vehicle value minus an assumed verified applicable limit of $75,000 leaves $125,000. No coverage approval is implied.

Options you can add

Prices shown are in USD. Your quote will confirm the applicable price, billing basis and terms for your car and rental.

Prepaid Fuel Convenience

Return the car without stopping to refuel on the way back.

$169

Loss of Use Waiver Contractual waiver

Addresses eligible charges for the time a car is unavailable after damage, within its agreed scope.

$199

Excess Insurance Coverage Insurance

Worth discussing where your existing cover doesn’t meet the vehicle’s requirements, where applicable.

$249–$499

Wheel/Door/Windshield Waiver Contractual waiver

Addresses agreed, eligible wheel, door and windshield damage charges.

$349

Individually, or as All-In

All-In brings together the same four options, not coverage for every loss. It doesn’t include primary liability or international insurance.

Chosen individually

  • 1Prepaid Fuel$169
  • 2Loss of Use Waiver$199
  • 3Excess Insurance Coverage$249–$499
  • 4Wheel/Door/Windshield Waiver$349
Separate total$966–$1,216

All-In

The same four items, together:

  • Prepaid Fuel
  • Loss of Use Waiver
  • Excess Insurance Coverage
  • Wheel/Door/Windshield Waiver

$499–$699

The final quote for your car and rental determines the comparison. These ranges do not pair vehicle tiers or establish an exact saving.

Illustrative costs, not repair quotes

Three illustrative damage cost scenarios of $200, $600 and $1,200, shown against the $349 Wheel/Door/Windshield Waiver price
ScenarioVisual comparisonIllustrative cost
Scenario A$200
Scenario B$600
Scenario C$1,200

Wheel/Door/Windshield Waiver

$349

Scenario amounts are illustrative. The waiver price is the quoted option price; its agreed scope and exclusions decide which charges it addresses.

Weighing the wheel, door and windshield waiver

Minor damage can cost less or more than the waiver price. Place the $349 option beside the responsibilities in your rental agreement and decide what suits the way you drive. Its agreed scope and exclusions apply.

Protection questions

What do you verify before I drive?

For a US policy, we verify your comprehensive, collision and liability coverage and whether it extends to the specific car you’ve chosen.

I’m visiting from abroad, or I don’t have a usable policy. Can I still rent?

A suitable insurance arrangement and the provider’s driver requirements need to be confirmed first. Ask us about the available options for your car and dates before you plan to drive.

What is the difference between a waiver and insurance?

A waiver is part of your rental agreement and addresses specific eligible charges within its agreed scope. Insurance is a separate policy with its own terms. Waivers sit alongside primary insurance rather than replacing it.

What does All-In include?

Exactly four options: Prepaid Fuel, Loss of Use Waiver, Excess Insurance Coverage and Wheel/Door/Windshield Waiver. It does not include primary liability or international insurance.

How is my protection price confirmed?

Your quote sets out the applicable price, billing basis and terms for your car and rental, so you can decide before you commit.

Is the security hold the same as protection?

No. A security hold is an authorization under your rental terms, released according to its conditions. Protection options are chosen separately.
