Delano was the hotel that defined 1990s South Beach: white curtains, the long lobby walk to the pool, Philippe Starck's surreal furniture. It closed for an extended period, and the current official site presents a reopened, reimagined hotel. We describe that new hotel only, not memories or reviews of the old one.

Expect a social, design-driven place for couples and friends who want to be in the middle of South Beach. Staying at the hotel is not the same as membership of the associated Members Club; club access is separate and confirmed individually.

There are two pools, with poolside bungalows opening onto the garden. Beach service and cabana terms are confirmed with the hotel.

The Source is the fitness and gym offering. Spa rituals are described as forthcoming; this is not yet a full spa, so do not plan a treatment-led stay around it until the hotel confirms availability.

The Delano's address is its other great asset. Lincoln Road's pedestrian mall is a block away, the Bass Museum and Collins Park are a short walk north, and the Art Deco District's pastel facades start just south. That makes the hotel a natural fit for couples who want to walk to dinner and back, and for design-minded travelers interested in how a landmark has been reinterpreted. Families may prefer a resort with a children's program and a full spa; groups wanting a large self-contained scene might compare Fontainebleau. If you remember the old Delano, come with fresh eyes: the name returns, but the rooms, restaurants and team are new.
