Character
Over the causeway, into island time
Key Biscayne is reached by the Rickenbacker Causeway from Brickell, and crossing it changes the mood: mangroves, cycling paths, quiet residential streets and state parks at both ends. The Ritz-Carlton sits on a long stretch of beach with gardens and a recently refreshed look.
It is one of Miami's best family resorts, and a natural pick for tennis and padel players. Couples who want calm without Surfside prices also do well here. Nightlife is in the city, a 20–30 minute drive.

Location and planning
Island, close to the city
Brickell is about 15–25 minutes; the airport about 25–35. Club Level is optional and category-specific. Residences with kitchens suit families staying a week or more.
Choosing well
Making the most of the island
Bring or rent bicycles: the island's paths connect the resort to Crandon Park, the village and the lighthouse at Bill Baggs. Racquet players should reserve court time and lessons ahead, and families should ask about kids' programming dates before they travel.
Key Biscayne also suits travelers who want nature close at hand. Kayaking and paddleboarding on the bay side, snorkelling off Cape Florida and early-morning cycles are all easy to arrange, and the Miami Seaquarium site and Virginia Key Beach lie along the causeway. Couples may prefer a high oceanfront room; families should weigh a residence with a kitchen and space to spread out. Compared with the Ritz-Carlton in Coconut Grove, which is urban, and South Beach, which is walkable, this is the resort choice of the three operating Miami Ritz-Carltons in our collection.
