Curtain Bluff is a Relais & Châteaux hotel on a rocky promontory on Antigua's south side, with the sea on both sides: the bay beach where Seagrape sits, and the surf beach below the bluff suites.

The rate covers almost everything: all meals and drinks, including in-room meals and the minibar, watersports, tennis, squash, yoga and Pilates.

Suits families (the kids-only Cee Bee Kids Camp), tennis players and anyone who wants to leave the wallet in the room.

Trade-offs: there is an evening dress code (long trousers, collared shirt and dress shoes for men at dinner), and the spa, lessons, scuba, cellar wines and airport transfers cost extra.

Seagrape, open-air on the sand at the far end of the bay beach, serves the buffet breakfast and lunch, a weekly beach barbecue with steel drums, and dinner several nights a week for guests 13 and over, mixing Italian and Antiguan cooking.

Tamarind serves à la carte dinner nightly; dinner reservations are required. Afternoon tea is in the library over the gardens, and there is a wine cellar.

A swimming pool, exercise facilities, and yoga and Pilates are included. The spa and beauty salon are charged separately.

Pool suites on the beach and the bluff add private water.

Twice-daily snorkelling trips to Cades Reef, waterskiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, windsurfing and Hobie cats are all included.

The tennis centre has four championship hard courts lit for night play and a pro shop; private lessons are $90 an hour. Tennis Challenge Week is held each November.

Fly into V.C. Bird International (ANU). Airport transfers are not included in the rate.

A three-night deposit is taken at booking; cancel at least 30 days ahead or the deposit is forfeited. Festive stays need 50% at booking.

Rates exclude a $5 per person per night tourism levy, 10% service charge and 17% government tax.
